Locos por Juana's video for 'Mueve Mueve' on VEVO
As part of Fania Records new-fangled project, Fania Wynwood Sessions, in association with Sol Society Recordings, Miami's longest standing band Locos por Juana has teamed up with vocalist Keilah Rose to deliver a special adaptation of 'La Murga' by Salsa sovereigns, Willie Colon featuring Hector Lavoe.
Fania Records, considered "The Motown of Salsa," continues to honor the legacy of Fania All Stars (Celia Cruz, Hector Lavoe, Willie Colon, Ray Barretto, Ismael Miranda, Ruben Blades, Cheo Feliciano, Roberto Roena) by creating new music projects where young DJs and producers have a chance to reinvent the classics into new sounds that cater to the current generations.
Performed by Itawe and Keilah Rose with Mark Kondrat on guitar, Javier 'La Cambra' Delgado on percussion and Dave Pransky on bass, 'La Murga' was originally released under Fania Records on Willie Colon's 1972 album, Asalto Navideño, featuring Hector Lavoe. The 2015 version will come alive on Fania Records' new YouTube channel starting Dec. 22 as part of Fania Records' partnership with the music platform Sol Society Recordings, whose mission is to provide artists a place to express themselves through intimate acoustic music sessions.

About Fania Records:
Fania Records is probably the most transcendental label in the history of Latin music. By bringing together the eclectic vision of Dominican bandleader Johnny Pacheco with the business savvy of Lawyer Jerry Masucci, Fania created a sound: the apex of tropical music, combined with the swing of big band jazz and the gritty vibe of American R&B. The label provided an artistic haven for a young generation of musicians who were inspired to experiment with new musical formats, and it gave birth to a musical group that changed the history of Latin Music. The widely successful Fania All Stars brought together several of the label's most popular artists like Hector Lavoe, Willie Colon, Celia Cruz, Ray Barretto, Ismael Miranda, Ruben Blades, Cheo Feliciano, and Roberto Roena among many others. The albums recorded from the early '70s to the mid-'80s went beyond the parameters of so-called "salsa" – taking Latin music to unsuspected levels of sophistication.
